Cold Creek’s Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) serves two purposes:
First, as a comprehensive continuing-care and aftercare program for clients who have completed our Residential Alcohol and Drug Treatment program. For these clients, the IOP program serves as a bridge as they transition from the protective residential treatment environment into daily life.
Second, Cold Creek’s intensive outpatient program also functions as a standalone program for individuals in the beginning stages of addiction who do not require the structure of Residential Treatment. Because the IOP program is in the evening, this is a good choice for individuals who are working full time, but need help overcoming a substance abuse addiction that has not yet taken over their life.
The IOP program at Cold Creek Wellness Center allows for more independence, but at the same time requires that the client is accountable to the program. Each client must complete homework assignments, maintain strict attendance, and pass weekly random drug tests.
During IOP, clients participate in Equine Therapy, work on developing life skills, learn about recovery, stress management, and how to prevent relapse. The counselors address any concerns during individual treatment sessions and monitor each client’s progress in completing the objectives and goals in their aftercare plan. Clients develop a support network and make new friends in recovery. The IOP program is held Monday, Wednesday, and Friday evenings.
Another unique feature of our Intensive Outpatient Program is the inclusion of the Family Program. Each client’s family and friends are eligible to participate in our six-week Family Program, which includes addiction education classes and private family counseling.
After graduating from the residential program, each client leaves with an individually tailored Aftercare plan. This way clients have the tools necessary to start a new life, free from addiction.
